Prof. Dr. Stephan Klaus is a mathematician and science communicator par excellence. He received his Diplom in Mathematics and Physics at the University of Mainz together with Peter Teichner under the supervision of Matthias Kreck. He obtained his PhD in Topology in 1995 and his venia legendi six years later, teaching many exciting lectures courses at the Universities of Mainz and Karlsruhe over the years. In 1998 he became a permanent member at the Mathematical Research Institute in Oberwolfach, where he is the constant right hand of varying directors. In addition to helping run about 50 workshops on current mathematical topics throughout each year, he is involved in a number of outreach programs, particularly for locals in the black forest region, old and young.
I'm very much looking forward to his lecture with the subtitle "How Pete got excited about studying Mathematics".
