Khovanov homology and applications to low-dimensional topology

Over the last two decades, the link homology theory introduced by Khovanov has grown into a package of homology theories that is exceedingly popular among low-dimensional topologists. In this talk, we discuss this package (known as universal Khovanov homology) and highlight its many applications to low-dimensional topology.
