Computing unstable stems using the Goodwillie spectral sequence

I will review some old work I did where I used EHP techniques to compute the Goodwillie spectral sequence converging to the unstable stable stems in the Toda range. I will then discuss how Konovalov's work explains some previously mysterious phenomena, and also make some remarks on the connection to the unstable Adams spectral sequence.
